How old is the oldest erhu player in Japan?
Japan's oldest erhu players
I think it's an instrument that's easy to continue playing even as you get older, as you can play it while sitting on a chair, the instrument is lightweight, and you play melody lines rather than chords, so I think there are quite a few people who play it across the country.
During the time of the Zhang Huan Erhu School, the predecessor of the China Erhu Academy , there was an elderly woman who started playing at the age of 85 and continued until she was 95. She developed leg problems and was no longer able to continue playing the erhu, but in the end she was able to play "Race for the Horses" at a certain speed.
Professor Zhang Huan was recognized (?) as my son from China, and when I was in Yamaguchi Prefecture, we had a relationship that was almost like family.
There are also elderly men in the Sapporo classroom.
He has been playing the erhu for a long time, so I think there are probably many people in the erhu community in Sapporo who know him.
He came to the China Erhu Academy at the age of 93 and took private lessons.
From the solid sound of the erhu to the sight of you coming to lessons yourself,
Exceptional self-management skills,
He has a deep love for music and knows the heart of music well.
I was amazed at how incredibly pure his heart is, something that doesn't exist in modern times.
What was particularly impressive was how grateful he was, always, at all times, for everything!
Recently, he has given up on playing the erhu because his hearing has become worse and his eyesight has weakened.
I'm 100 years old this year.
I received a postcard from him just two days ago through another student.

What strong and firm handwriting!
The words shine divinely.
My goal for the future is to be like this person, to be able to see things from a philosophical perspective, to be grateful for each day, and to take care of myself until the very end.
In addition to that, my goal is to be able to play the erhu forever.
Let's all work hard and aim for it!
