Chang Hwan

Erhu player

Director of the Erhu Society of the Chinese Musicians Association

Born in Heilongjiang, China

   

He came to Japan in 1998 and opened the Chinese Erhu Academy in Hokkaido, Kitakyushu and Yamaguchi, and has been actively performing in concerts and other events around the country.

With its fantastical tone that instantly captivates the listener and its unparalleled artistic quality, the China Erhu Academy cultivates rich sensibilities in its students through passionate lessons and warm guidance.

The sound of the erhu, which fascinates Hokkaido residents, is introduced on the Hokkaido Prefectural Government website, Hokkaido-China Exchange Digital Museum .

Akiko Chang

 While studying in China in 1996, he became interested in the erhu and began to learn it.

After her husband, Zhang Huan, came to Japan, she began to seriously pursue the erhu while working as his assistant for his musical activities. She inherited Zhang Huan's erhu music and is active in many areas, performing at concerts and events.

He is well known for his precise and detailed instruction that is sensitive to the feelings of the students, and he also serves as an advisor to everyone at the academy.

Xi Wen

She began practicing the yangqin at the age of 13 and studied under Professor Liu Yuening at the Central Conservatory of Music.

He came to Japan in December 2001 and continues to inspire audiences with his deft technique, delicate yet dynamic playing. He currently teaches mainly in Yamaguchi and Kitakyushu.

Jiang Tao

Member of the Chinese Musicians Association Erhu Society

Chinese Erhu Academy instructor Born in Heilongjiang, China

He studied under Professor Huang Wen-hui at the Department of Performance, Faculty of Folk Wind Music, Harbin Normal University. During his student days, he taught the next generation of erhu players at his father's erhu school. After graduating from university, he became active as an erhu player and instructor, and won awards in the soloist and instructor categories at competitions.

He came to Japan in February 2007 and teaches at schools in Yamaguchi and Kitakyushu, and currently performs based in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
